Mission Statement

The mission of Red Ink Theatre is to inspire honesty.

Red Ink's productions allow, both audience and performer alike, to explore authentic, unique, independent ideas of themselves and society. We unearth truths through our process and relate it to our audience. By using different theatrical tools and styles, including solo performance work, improvisation, and sketch comedy, we give art the opportunity to applaud, ridicule and imitate life.

History

Red Ink Theatre Company's first production, Time to Stop Worrying, was an original sketch comedy revue (written and performed by Red Ink's own sketch group, 4 Days Late) that stood fearless in the face of absent reviewers. Its run at The Spot was concluded with a highly successful, sold-out performance at Chicago Sketchfest, '08. Their second production, iAlone, an original work delving into the true secrets of its writer/actors, was incredibly well received and recommended in the Chicago Reader during it's three week preview at The Spot in April and May of 2008. It was also performed at the Abbie Hoffman Festival, produced by Marie Arrchie Theatre, in the summer of '08. iAlone will be fully mounted in Spring/Summer, 2009.

4 Days Late's second sketch comedy revue, America for Dummies, ran through the fall of 2008 at The Apollo Theater, and was also concluded with a sold-out performance at Chicago Sketchfest '09. They are currently working on their newest revue, ObamaNation, due to open April 3rd, 2009 at The Apollo Theater once again.

Red Ink Theatre was founded by Artistic Director, Erin Lane, and Brian Bush. Erin Lane has a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Columbia College Chicago. She has also graduated from the Second City Conservatory here in Chicago as well as from iO and Annoyance Productions. She has been performing professionally for over 10 years and has been directing in Chicago for two.
